Why Should the United States Give Billions of Dollars to NASA?

I believe that the U.S. shouldn't give billions of dollars to NASA, because when they launch the rockets they are destroying the ozone layer. I also believe that the money should go to the researchers of diseases and of cancer.

With the research I have picked up, I've found out while surfing the internet that NASA has 13,664 million dollars, with all that money they don't need billions of dollars more. I think the money should go to the students and staff members of the education departments and not to launch other satellites into space. NASA uses 15 billion dollars each year from the United States. If they spend that much amount of money a year, why would they need billions of dollars more? With the fifteen billion and the 13,664 million they have enough money to launch 2 rockets and a satellite. I obtained this information from http://www.wikipedia.com, according to them the annual budget is 16.8 billion for 2007.

I got information from http://www.spacetoday.com that since 1957, some 5,000 satellites have been launched. With all those satellites launched ,when we give them more money they will launch more satellites, that will destroy the ozone layer even more. With the ozone layer being destroyed thats causing global warming also. I obtained this information from http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov that on Jan. 22, 1997 they've launched a total of 81 missions have been flown since the first flight in April 1981. If the billions of dollars went to the disease researchers they can find a cure for diseases that take peoples lives. This is one of the sites I used to get information http://www.nasa.gov/centers/kennedy the information was that a space shuttle cost approximately 1.7 billion dollars, now I know why they need the billion dollars, but they dont deserve it.

I think that when a rocket is launched, the smoke that it makes is harmful to our lungs and health. Just because NASA wants to explore space over 200 space shuttles have been launched. Within the 200, there have been most of them were from different states and countries like columbia, florida. When it was established in July 29, 1958NASA didn't need that much money when they first started off. I think that it deopends on the size of the rocket because if the rocket is skinny it won't rip a whole in the ozone layer, and if it is fat it wikll make a huge whole and it is most likely to let out air into space.

Those are somefacts that I have researched and some of my strong opinions. Thats why I think that tha United States shouldn't give billions of dollars to NASA space government. I belief that if we stop giving them money they will learn to save money and spend it on very big missions, not on something like letting another man on the moon. This my repot ENJOY!
